Capturing a Lifestyle to drive recruitment with video 

THE ASK  

 A recruitment content strategy that included driver vignettes and a brand film to shine a light on Legend’s family values and the lifestyle of the drivers on and off the road.

INSIGHT

Truck drivers are uniquely difficult to market to and employers in the trucking industry have an extremely high turnover rate when it comes to retention.

APPROACH

One key element was hiring actors to portray real truck drivers, which called for building rapport with the cast prior to the shoot, incorporating green screen shots to fake driving scenes, and having a subject matter expert on set to ensure authenticity and accuracy.

THE CHALLENGE

Creating recruitment-style content that captures the attention of drivers by speaking directly to them and stands out in a competitive industry that is suffering a huge driver shortage. That’s not as easy as it sounds. Time is money and a real driver’s salt-of-the-earth personality doesn’t bode well in front of the lens. We found solutions by hiring actors to play the role of our drivers. With that, we had to ensure a level of authenticity by having a New Legend recruiting manager onsite while working with the actors and trucks.

AUTHENTIC DRIVER STORIES - SERIES

From sunup to sundown, we follow a diverse group of drivers and hear about life on and off the road, in their own words. Keep in mind, 2 of these driver stories are actors that we captured in an authentic way.

THE IMPACT

A series of branded content that serves to give Legend a voice, improve outside perception and increase their driver’s lifespan at the company. With these videos in their back pocket, they now possess the tools to improve recruitment efforts, welcome new faces with a strong identity and boost morale overall amongst their current employees.

Legend’s Recruiting team wanted to ensure that potential drivers know what to expect when they join the team: family values, honesty, and work/life balance. Our producers had everyone speak directly into the lens to add a personal and engaging touch.
