Champion
Champion and Exposure Agency shopped around production companies in Arizona to help them with a campaign that was focused around two sponsored runners Jessica Tonn and Freddie L Crittenden III. Two commercial deliverables were needed for the campaign launch and they entrusted Ambient to execute the production for them. After numerous negotiations, Champion flew out Director Bobby Goulding from the UK, who teamed up with Ambient’s crew during pre-production to further develop the creative details. DP Jacien Seivers was chosen for his style and promptly joined the team. The main challenge wasn’t what you’d normally expect. The cover 19 pandemic was spreading with fury and every state was shutting down completely to curb the virus. This presented an issue with finding locations that were open and willing to let a crew of 10+ people on their premises. Challenged with the task of providing the first production to perform during the recently announced pandemic, Ambient’s producer John Schus was able to pull together the locations in the nick of time and the production was a go. We spent 2 days shooting in and around Phoenix and Scottsdale at multiple gyms and on the only open track field in the entire state. We overcame immense challenges that were a direct result of the pandemic and quickly implemented social distancing guidelines that our crew and talent followed throughout the entirety of the shoot. Due to the restrictions, Champion has delayed the release of the content for some time and plans to push forward with the campaign in 2021.
Be Your Own Champion
If you want to be a Champion, it's gonna take sacrifice, a lot of focus, and some good ol’ grit. That’s why Jessica Tonn and Freddie L Crittenden III are at the top of their game when it comes to long distance running. Fast and fierce, these two don’t know the meaning of giving up and it shows in their skills and accomplishments. Probably why Champion chose to sponsor them and highlight the pair in their newest campaign.
Production during a Global Pandemic
Although originally planned to release in 2020, Covid has pushed the release date back until 2021. Exposure was able to get the production underway right as Covid 19 was crippling all of our lives. Over night, everything shut down and life seemed to come to a halt, including all video productions. But with the Director stuck in America and the talent willing and ready, Champion chose to push forward and it was the first production in AZ to shoot during the shutdown and enforce social distancing guidelines. Luckily we got through it unscathed and were still able to churn out a great product for Champion in the midst of a frightening pandemic.
