Ambient Skies Takes Home Three Addy Awards In 2023
So everyone’s heard of the Emmy Awards, right? Everyone’s heard of the Academy Awards.
But you might not have heard about the Addy’s which is short for the American Advertising Awards.
This ceremony annually celebrates the achievements of ad agencies across the nation and is put on by the American Advertising Federation.
To break it down, basically you have regional award ceremonies. If you win a bronze, silver or gold, you are eligible to submit your work for the national Addy Awards. Ok, history lesson over. Now onto the blog…
First off, we just want to congratulate all of this years winners and the amazing work they created. Big round of applause to the sponsors and everyone who helps put this ceremony together. The award show took a hit during covid and attendance dropped dramatically. Since then, it has picked up steadily every year. We were all happy to see that the attendance had doubled this year and that we’re finally getting back to where it was in 2019.
So for us at Ambient Skies, this is our second year submitting our work. Last year we won a gold and two silvers which isn’t shabby for our first go around. This year we were lucky enough to walk away with three more awards, two bronze and one silver. Let’s Go!!
The competition was higher this year and that only motivates us to push ourselves further to create exceptional, jaw-dropping content that is gold standard. Next year, we’re coming for you Phoenix!
This year, it was held at the Arizona Science Center, which if you’ve ever been is a wonderfully designed facility with amazing Frank Loyd Wright esq. architecture. They laid out the fancy red carpet at the entrance which always makes your plus one feel like a million bucks. It was great, they opened up some cool exhibits for us, had a few bars setup. Most of the people in attendance showed up early to mingle and loosen up before the big show as well as take team photos by photographer George Tenny.
Legend Transportation
So this year we won two awards for Legend Transportation. First one was a silver award for Film, Video, & Sound Branded Content & Entertainment Campaign. And we won a bronze award for Elements of Advertising Cinematography Campaign. This project came with some unique challenges. They were looking to find their brand identity so that they could recruit long-term drivers who were looking to stick and stay as they say. We brought a wholesome, down-to-earth approach to this campaign that leaned heavy on cinematic visuals and capturing the raw grit that their drivers possess. It was humbling to receive recognition for the hard work we put into this campaign and it only inspires us to keep going and improve on our craft.

Black Hills Energy
We also won a bronze award for Black Hills Energy under the category Film, Video & Sound Webisode Series. This was a stellar campaign that we were happy to be a part of and help bring to life. BHE’s marketing team came to us seeking a production partner who could digest and produce the large amount of deliverables they were looking to capture. As well as help them find the right candidates to put in front of the lens. We locked in two solid actors that felt like an authentic DIY couple you’d see on HGTV. They brought some spunky personality to the series of edutainment videos that the energy giant needed to promote energy saving awareness and the campaign was a success. It was a pleasant surprise to receive an award for this project and we’re grateful for the recognition.
